Case Description
I'm 22 yrs old. I was hanging upside down in some hospital bed like some kinda caught fish on a taxidermist's display-rack for months-on-end.(I was in a Head-on-collsion with a Lrg "Peterbuilt" 18-whl truck pulling two trailers@Hwy speed, and comatose for 56 mo.& 3 wks.) & was pronounced legally dead-on-the-scene(I still keep my former Death Certificate, just for major laughs...).
But thanks to the morgue guy, who said "I have a weak-partial pulse on this one," I'm somehow here.
Anyhow, the dentures they placed in where the steering wheel met very, VERY forcibly with my mouth, (broke off jaw, too, at the time) have given me nothing but lisp and aLOT of miss-pronunciation. The Dr's say it's a matter of just getting used-to? But it's been OVER two months now, and I still can't pronounce right, on most words.. my ONLY COMMUNICATION is text..The only description I can think of is it ALWAYS but ALWAYS sounds like I have a mouthful of gum or paste EVERY TIME I even TRY to speak now?? The bottoms hurt where the wire part is up against the "incisors," too?
I just talk like a complete moron whenever I even attempt to speak anymore. I can think fine,I can walk & run pretty well, and most times I can even play tennis ok. But, I just can't talk very well at all, (SO, I NEVER SPEAK anymore). And all they say is it's a matter of time! I can't believe it still?
I just can't speak much at all with these darn dentures, so "talking" to a dentist is MOSTLY out.Anyone ever heard of anything even "CLOSE" to that kind of denture problem??
Joey

Are You This Patient?
When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Joey,Have you ever been presented with the option of implants? It would allow you to have teeth that stay in your mouth and you can eat just about anything you want. The longevity of implants is wonderful assuming you don''''t go head to head with another 18 wheeler. The reason you are having trouble speaking properly is because the roof of your mouth is covered and the airflow out of your mouth is different than what you were used to with your natural teeth. There is also a misconception that you need one implant for every tooth missing. Not true. You can have a full set of teeth with as few as 4 implants. Then you have nothing on the roof of your mouth, and it simulates what you had prior to the accident. If I can help, call my office at (904)620-9225.Sincerely,James J. McCall, DDS
